How Our UK Salary Calculator Works

Our UK salary calculator helps you estimate how much of your annual salary you could take home after common deductions. Enter your salary and choose your tax region to see an estimated breakdown of Income Tax, National Insurance, pension contributions and take-home pay.

The calculator uses the 2026/27 tax year and applies the appropriate Income Tax calculation depending on whether you live in Scotland or England, Wales or Northern Ireland. National Insurance is calculated separately because employee NI rules apply across the UK.

Pension contributions are estimated using our standard workplace pension assumptions based on qualifying earnings. Your actual pension deduction may differ depending on your employer’s scheme, contribution rate and whether your pension uses salary sacrifice, net pay or relief at source.

Your results include estimated annual, monthly, weekly, daily and hourly pay so you can understand your salary from different angles. This can be useful when comparing job offers, checking a payslip or planning your monthly budget.

Please note: WeFixPay provides estimates for guidance only. Your actual take-home pay may differ because of your tax code, bonuses, overtime, student loan repayments, benefits, salary sacrifice arrangements or other workplace deductions.

UK Salary Calculator FAQs

How accurate is the UK salary calculator?
The calculator provides an estimate based on the 2026/27 tax year. Your actual payslip may differ because of your tax code, bonuses, overtime, benefits, pension scheme, student loan deductions or other adjustments made through payroll.

Does the calculator work for Scotland?
Yes. Select Scotland as your tax region and the calculator will apply Scottish Income Tax bands. England, Wales and Northern Ireland use the main UK Income Tax bands. National Insurance is calculated separately.

Does the salary calculator include pension contributions?
Yes. The estimate includes a standard workplace pension contribution based on qualifying earnings. Your actual contribution may differ depending on your employer’s scheme and whether it uses salary sacrifice, net pay or relief at source.

What does take-home pay mean?
Take-home pay is the amount left after estimated deductions such as Income Tax, National Insurance and employee pension contributions. It is sometimes called net pay.

Can I use the calculator to compare job offers?
Yes. Enter different annual salaries to compare estimated annual, monthly, weekly, daily and hourly take-home pay. This can make it easier to compare two salary offers based on what you may actually receive.

What Deductions Are Included in Your Salary Estimate?

Your salary estimate can include several common deductions that affect how much pay reaches your bank account. Income Tax is calculated using the tax rules for your selected UK region, while National Insurance is estimated separately using employee contribution thresholds.

The calculator also includes an estimated workplace pension contribution. Pension deductions can vary between employers, so the figure shown should be treated as a guide rather than an exact payslip amount.

Other deductions may also affect your real take-home pay. These can include student loan repayments, postgraduate loans, salary sacrifice arrangements, workplace benefits, court orders or other deductions made through payroll. Bonuses and overtime can also change the amount of tax and National Insurance you pay during a particular pay period.
